We have three levels of membership, Registered, Accredited and Affiliated. The criteria for each level of membership is detailed below.
Become a registered member of the APBC and join a supportive community dedicated to helping individuals cope with the loss of their companion animals. Our registered membership fee is £80 per year.
Registered membership of the APBC is open to -
APBC registered members can upgrade to full accredited member status upon successfully completing our APBC independent assessment (see below).
All registered members must agree to adhere to the APBC Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.

Join the APBC as a registered member - membership is £80 per year.
In order to become an accredited member you must first join the APBC as a registered member. After joining as a registered member you will be able to request to participate in our APBC assessment; our assessment is split into two parts. Firstly you must pass a written assessment; on successful completion of the written assessment, you will then participate in an oral assessment; our oral assessments are carried out over 2 weekends each year. There will be a charge of £40 to undertake our assessment process.
Upon successful completion of our assessment you will be awarded an Accredited membership, our Accredited membership fee is £120 per year payable on renewal of your membership.
All accredited members must agree to adhere to the APBC Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.
Benefits of becoming an accredited member include -
Available to those who are not directly counselling pet owners but who are allied to the pet loss industry, for example those who sell pet loss products or merchandise, pet crematoriums and cemeteries and veterinary groups or surgeries.

Join the APBC as an Affiliate member - membership is £40 per year.
The Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors will officially launch in March 2024
